Last week I visited the Art Cologne, the biggest German fair for contemporary art, with my girlfriends. After negative press during the last two years, the fair was able to recover and showed some good pieces. Voila a few impressions:

TEFAF impressions
Today, it's the last day of TEFAF and I want to share some of my impressions. Voila a few pictures showing some great pieces of art, my friend Carola and me and the interior decoration of the fair...
a great Warhol - the green is so exceptional
Carola and a fabulous piece by Damian Hirst
Chagal
Nolde
the TEFAF is known for its rich flower decoration. The walls of the main entrance were covered with pink and white roses - so pretty!!!
Actually, the TEFAF is so much more fabulous than I could ever capture on pictures...

TEFAF
The European Fine Art Fair (TEFAF), which is the world's most prestigious art and antiques fair, is going to take place from the 13. - 22.03 here in Maastricht. I went there last year for the first time and was speachless about the incredible masterpieces showcased, most of which you would actually expect to see in a Museum. Last year's highlight was a van Gogh painting priced at 30 million Euros; so these are the dimension were are actually talking about!Tomorrow is going to be the preview, which is just insane: people arriving in their private jets, the creme de la creme of galerists and art collectors!
In case you are interested in art, this fair is absolutely worthwhile. However, tickets are rather expensive at 55 Euros per person.
I am going to be there tomorrow at the preview (!) and some other days and I'll make sure to keep you posted about all the art and glamour!!

Sonia Rykiel in Paris
When I was in Paris two weeks ago, I visited the Sonia Rykiel exhibit in Les Arts Decoratifs. This first major retrospective of Rykiel's work was organized on the occasion of her 4oth anniversary. The exhibit showcases her various creations since 1986, combined with fashion photographs and runway videos. I really enjoyed it, as it brings you a bit closer to this fascinating women, who revolutionized the fashion scene and paved the way for more freedom of expression in clothing.Voila, some impressions of the exhibit:
The candy coloured stripes are one of the label's hallmarks.
Two gorgeous dresses!
This is Sonia's "crazy" sweater collection. (I guess the one with the big flower is worn by Carrie on her Paris trip).
The exhibit closes with the tribute collection by 30 of the most famous designers, which was organized by daughter Nathalie Rykiel as a surprise for the anniversary.
These are the super fun creations from Margiela, Gautier and Lagerfeld:

Chateau Chateau
Today, I made little trip to Chateau St. Gerlach, near Maastricht...

I'm wearing a twenty8twelve skirt by S.Miller, FCUK cardigan, Petit Bateau shirt & Drykorn coat.

Chauteau St. Gerlach is a luxirious hotel in Valkenburg near Maastricht. It's located in a nature reserve and consists of old monumental buildings. It has a really cute bistrot, called Bistrot de Liege, which offers weekly menues, small local dishes and delicious cakes. My personal favourite is the home-made Apfelstrudel!

MaastrichtMaastricht
I already mentioned in earlier posts that I am studying in Maastricht, which is a small, charming city in the South of the Netherlands. Apart from the great Business School, Maastricht has a lot to offer: cute shops and exquisit boutiques, excellent restaurants, lots of art galleries and antique shops. Once a year the city hosts the TEFAF, which is one of the most prominent and exclusive art fairs in the world. All in all, Maastricht is really special, not only due to its importance in the art scene, but also its symbolic role in European history. I will share with you some of my very personal insights about Maastricht and start with a shopping guide, which is to come very soon!
