Sonia Rykiel in Paris

When I was in Paris two weeks ago, I visited the Sonia Rykiel exhibit in Les Arts Decoratifs. This first major retrospective of Rykiel's work was organized on the occasion of her 4oth anniversary. The exhibit showcases her various creations since 1986, combined with fashion photographs and runway videos. I really enjoyed it, as it brings you a bit closer to this fascinating women, who revolutionized the fashion scene and paved the way for more freedom of expression in clothing.
Voila, some impressions of the exhibit:

The candy coloured stripes are one of the label's hallmarks.

Two gorgeous dresses!

This is Sonia's "crazy" sweater collection. (I guess the one with the big flower is worn by Carrie on her Paris trip).

The exhibit closes with the tribute collection by 30 of the most famous designers, which was organized by daughter Nathalie Rykiel as a surprise for the anniversary.
These are the super fun creations from Margiela, Gautier and Lagerfeld:

The exhibit is still opened until 19. April. So if you go to Paris, don't miss it!!

outrageous...?

Voila, the new Calvin Klein ad campaign for Spring 09 with top models Anna Selezneva, Anna Jagodzinska and Natasha Poly, photographed by Steven Meisel. In original CK spirit, the campaign shows lots of skin and screams pure sex.

Its appearance caused quite some scandel in the U.S, where the TV spot will only be available in a scensored version. You can watch the full version chez http://www.calvinkleininc.com/. What do you think? As for me, I LIKE it!

It's by far not the first time that a CK ad shocked the public. Just remember the legendary ad with, then 15- year old, Brooke Shields claiming: "Nothing comes between me and my Calvins".

And of course all the controversial ads with Kate Moss embodying the "heroine chic". This is on of the most famous shots for the Calvin Klein Obsession ad campaign, which caused Kate's huge break through in 1993.

Even in times of recession...

...there is some space for dreams!

I have been super busy last week working on the international sweets fair in Cologne, which left me with hardly any time to blog. I have been meaning to post these pictures from the Spring Haute Couture Shows for some time, they are just too wonderful!

Voila, the all white collection by Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel. The pieces are so romantic, yet very modern. I particularly like the models' hair, with all the artsy paper roses, camellias and feathers in it.

I also really like the Givenchy collection. It is very light compared to Tisci's usual look, but still fierce. The catwalk covered with rose petals is such a lovely detail!

Lastly, I have to show you this great collage by JustJr about the stunning and so exotic Lacroix collection. He makes the best and most inspirational collages ever!! Now that I got photoshop I have to work on my skills...BIG to-do!

Paris goodies

Shopping in Paris is insane!
The city offers everything a shopping addict could possibly wish for: fabulous French brands like Isabel Marant and Zadig&Voltaire, boutiques from all the big designers and great vintage shops...and of course there is shopping mekka Colette, which is one of the most inspirational stores ever!
But when shopping in Paris there are not just great clothes, but also über-stylish people to look at (e.g. I spotted French Voguette Geraldine Saglio at le Bon Marche!). Well and if you ever feel tired of all the shopping, you can just make a pit-stop chez Laduree!

I already showed you the black dress I got from Z&V. These are some of my other Paris buys:

Scarf and belt from Zadig & Voltaire.

Isabel Marant tunic.

Black pair of classy Repetto flats.

And of course I got the fabulous Lara Stone issue, way too many macaroons and I finally bought the great Marc Jacobs documentary from Arte, which is just availble in MJ stores.
